11 1/2

She walked around the house and carried Oliver on her hip.  She sat at the counter and made him laugh.  She had an air of confidence about her that I had never seen in her before around babies.  She has always enjoyed them.  Previously, when she had a baby in her arms, she would be found seated next to an adult.  This day she seemed to know just what to do.  As I snapped this photograph of Oliver and Kate it seemed as though she was just this age.  I could still see traces of her childhood in her hands and face and that made me happy.  She, on the other hand, can't wait to grow up.  Just days ago to the question, "how old are you?" she answered almost 12.  My answer would have been barely 11. Yet today she is exactly 11 1/2 years old.  How can that be?

back to the grind

The house was almost uncomfortably quiet today.
The girls went back to school and Danny to work.
The end of 2015 was filled with extended family members, house reorganization and rearranging and winter walks.
As usual, when we are left home alone, MO mopes around the house and waits many times a day at the front window.
